Especies I, II y III

Commissioned by ISEA2022 Barcelona. Part of the DKV Collection.

Especies I, II y III imagines the possibilities for the evolution of artificial intelligence, and its consequences for the human condition. The project is built around a set of three robotic devices, constructed from algorithmic structures inspired by philosophical principles, forming a small inorganic ecosystem.

Beyond questioning the technology needed to develop artificial consciousness, the project argues that its very possibility also lies in philosophical attribution. Each device is designed to stage possible existential, evolutionary, and sensitive processes through creative coding, moving away from the simulation of the human in search of the machinic condition itself.

Through physical-digital behaviors, this small inorganic ecosystem invites us to read its devices as conscious organisms, staging a possible evolution of AI and its future integration into our world. The installation is accompanied by a fictional audio story narrating the devices’ process of evolution.
